WREX KERMIT HAUTH JR., died July 30, 2009 at 79 years of age. Wrex was born in San Bernardino California on March 8, 1930 to Wrex Kermit Sr. and Imogene Lee Hauth. After graduation from Willow Springs High School i n 1950, he married Bettye Jeanne Henson on May 15, 1951. Bettye Jeanne preceded him in death on February 14, 2009. To that union , three sons were born, Wrex III, who preceded Wrex and Bettye in death, Stephen L., currently of Milton, FL, and W. Kyle, currently of Chattanooga, TN. He is survived by his two sons, daughters-in-law, and by six grandchildren: Patricia, Jonathan, Meredith, Lorie, Amy, and Lindsey. Wrex obtained his B. A. degree from Mississippi College in 1960 with a major in History and Secondary Education, a M.Div. degree from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1963, a M.A. degree from Memphis State University in 1983 and a D. Min from the Louisville Southern Baptist Seminary in 1998. Wrex accepted Christ at an early age and served faithfully in the Lord''s work throughout his life. He was called to the ministry in 1954 and served in missions in the Republic of Panama from 1954 to 1955. He served as pastor of Mangonia Park Baptist Mission in West Palm Beach Florida 1956-1958, Hickory Ridge Baptist Church, Florence Mississippi 1959-1960, First Baptist Church, Armstrong Missouri 1962-1965, Principal and Teacher, Gilliam Public Schools, Gilliam Missouri 1964-1965, U.S.Navy Chaplain 1965-1975, Pastor of Big Creek Baptist, Millington, TN 1975-1980, Ardmore Baptist Mission, Memphis, TN 1980-1982, Chaplain of Veterans Hospital, Memphis,TN 1980-1992, Pastor of International Baptist Church, Memphis, TN 1993-2009. Instructor with Union University 1998-2009. He served God faithfully throughout his 55 years in the ministry and fulfilled numerous leadership roles with the TN Baptist Convention, Shelby Baptist Association, the TN Baptist Adult homes, and many humanitarian organizations. His loving spirit, jovial demeanor, and zest for life was eclipsed only by his unyielding devotion to help the sick, feed the hungry, minister to the imprisoned, and bring light to a dark world. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 4, from 11am-2pm at the Faith Baptist Church in Bartlett, 3755 North Germantown Rd. Funeral services will be held directly following visitation. Burial will be at 3:30 at Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery in Millington. Donations to International Baptist Church, in lieu of flowers, are encouraged.
