Mrs. Willie Paul Turner Cohea, age 88, longtime Memphis resident, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012 at the home of her daughters and son-in-law, Jay and Linda Stapleton and Beverly Harden in Horn Lake, MS. Better known as Ms. Willie or Granny, Mrs. Cohea was born December 15, 1923 in Carroll County, MS. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Cohea; her parents, William Clinton Turner and Claude Grace Carpenter Turner; one sister, Euleen Turner Andrews; and two brothers, Claude Gray Turner and William Clinton "Bubba" Turner, Jr. In addition to her daughters, she is survived by four brothers, Alton "Snooks" Turner and his wife Berteen of Olive Branch, MS, Larry Turner and his wife Lucretia of Benton, AR, Silas Turner, and William Turner and his wife Jan of Hot Springs, AR; one sister, Mattie Reed, also of Hot Springs; three granddaughters, Mary Enoch and her husband Mark of Bartlett, TN, Stephanie Watson and her husband John of McKinney, TX, and Stacey Choate and her husband Bo of Austin, TX; one grandson, Shaun Cook and his wife Patti of Iron Station, NC. She also leaves 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, and a host of nieces and nephews. The family was also blessed by the compassion shown to Mom by the staff of Methodist Alliance Hospice, especially Diane Sunda, Pam McGee, Mary Hudspeth, Linda Serino and Sandy Rada. Visitation will be Saturday, June 2 from 11 a.m. until service time at 12 noon, both at Heartland Church, 385 Stateline Rd. East, Southaven, MS. Interment to follow in Southwoods Cemetery in Memphis.
