IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Everett
Wylie, Jr.
November 16, 1944 – February 24, 2020
William Everett "Boogie" Wylie Jr. was born an only child in Memphis, Tennessee on November 16th, 1944 to William Sr. and Margaret Wylie. He passed away in the early hours of February 24th, 2020 at Methodist Lebonheur Hospital in Germantown, Tennessee, surrounded by his wife and loved ones, after a long, hard battle with heart failure.
Bill graduated top of his class at Christian Brothers High School in 1962. After graduating, he served eight years in the United States Air Force where he got to travel the world. It was during his time stationed in the Philippines that he met his wife of 53 years, Shirley Arcillas Wylie. From the moment they met, Shirley was the light of his life, his number one priority, and his very best friend. They married and returned home to Memphis where they raised their four children and lived the remainder of their lives. After working 25 years for the city of Memphis at MLGW, never missing a day, Bill retired in 2009. During retirement, he spent his time fishing, reading, attending church, and spending every moment possible with family and loved ones.
Bill lived a long, happy, abundant life filled with family, good times, and adventure. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, his children Catherine (Keith), Barbara (Jeffrey Sr.), Anna, & Billy, his grandchildren Christopher, Nastassjia, Jeffrey Jr., Michael, Amanda, Brian, Ashley, Rodney Jr., Amber, Joshua, Brianna, William, & Alyssa, and his great-grandchildren Rodney III, Cooper, Ava, & Levi.
We mourn for him now, but we rejoice and find peace and comfort knowing that he is healed, joyful, and complete in Jesus Christ. In his own words, "We had some good ole times, didn't we?"
Taba, dad, Pappaw Boogie…you are dearly loved, forever cherished, and deeply embedded into our hearts. We praise God for giving us 75 years of joy, laughter, and precious moments with you. You were truly the last of a dying breed; you are irreplaceable. We miss you dearly, and we will never forget the impact you had on each of our lives.
The family invites all who knew and loved Bill to attend visitation on Thursday, February 27th from 5-7 PM at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home at 6755 Highway 51 N in Millington and the funeral mass on Friday, February 28th at 10 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church at 3700 Thomas Street in Memphis.
