William Kenneth Brooks, 69, affectionately known as "Bud", died February 13, 2014 at the Methodist Hospice Residence. Bud was a simple man and loved the simple pleasures of life. He loved his family and friends. He used to love to go fishing, watching old movies, gospel music, and automobiles and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved going to the Harvester and listening to music "at the dance". He was born in Memphis and spent all his life in the area. He grew up in Frayser and Shelby Forrest area, where he attended E.E. Jeter School. Bud had a tendency to consider his friends as extended family. He worked with his brother, Thomas Lynn Brooks as a Supervising Locksmith at the University of Memphis, Maintenance Department. After work, they spent much time with friends at V.F. Pawn Shop. Bud is survived by his wife of 13 years, Bobbie Brooks. He was a loving father to Priscilla Brooks Leggett (Norman); grandpa to, Breanna Marie, Samuel Caleb, Jordan Luke, and Jadan Lee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas T. and Anna May Henderson Brooks; brothers, Thomas Lynn Brooks and Michael Steven Brooks Sr.; Grandmother, Annie May Henderson; and aunt, Elizabeth Henderson Higdon. The family will receive friends at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home on Monday, February 17, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. Funeral services will be at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home Monday, February 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery.
