William "Bill" Hyder, 80, of Millington, TN passed away on September 2, 2014. He was born in Knoxville, Tennessee to Joseph and Nora Hyder on December 28, 1933. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 49 years, Loucille Hyder. He is survived by his two stepsons, James (Cathy) Westmoreland of Olive Branch, MS and Tommy (Lisa) Westmoreland of Drummonds, TN. He leaves five grandchildren, Tina Tandy, Derek, Mark, Megan and Kaitlyn Westmoreland and eight great grandchildren and one brother, David Hyder of Cincinnati, Ohio. He was an eight year veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Korean War and spent 25 years as manager of Forsythe Vending Company. He proudly and enthusiastically announced Baseball games at the USA Stadium for 29 years, becoming known as the "Voice of Millington." The City of Millington and the USA Stadium recognized his service by presenting him the Distinguished Service Award in 2010. He was a volunteer fireman for many years and very involved in several community projects. He was a member of Millington First Baptist Church where he worked several years and also used his vocal gift to sing in their choir and be a part of special programs. Visitation will be at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home in Millington, Tennessee on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be at Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to a veteran charity of your choice or Millington Football Boosters.
