Wayne Franklin Shannon, 94, of Millington, Tennessee passed away on February 11, 2016. He was born in Manilla, AR to Levi Shannon and Lonia Ann Purvis Shannon. Wayne enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp at the outset of World War II. He was stationed on Guadalcanal and later served in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Rose Sottile Shannon, and by five sisters. He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy Shannon, stepchildren; Thomas Whitehouse, Kerry Rowland, and Shannon Johnson, seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren; Don Lucy (Clara), Mike Lucy (Brenda), John Wayne Hayes (Kathy(, Stephan Hayes (Sandy), and niece Jackie Cunningham. Wayne was a very loving and giving person. In memory of his deceased wife, Rose, Wayne donated the Saint Jude statue in the Garden of Hope in Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery. He also initiated a fund raising challenge in 2005 toward building a much needed Family Life Center at St. William Catholic Church which was dedicated in 2007. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 16th, at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. with a rosary service at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be February 17th, at St. William Catholic Church at 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude''s Children''s Research Hospital.
