Wayne D. Key, 98, died Monday, March 31, 2014, at home with his children at his side. A lifelong resident of Memphis, he was preceded in death by his brother Mondell Key, and sisters Madge Neill and Maxine Lowe. Mr. Key is survived by his beloved wife of 78 years, Ileen Key, and his two children Kay Nunnelee (Don) and Wayne Key, granddaughters Dana Felkner (Rob) , April Jackson (Matthew), Sarah Lewis (David), and Rebekah Key, three great grandchildren Harrison and Lauren Felkner and Matthew Lewis. Mr. Key was a WWII Navy veteran. After the war he worked as a radio engineer at WMPS where he retired after 34 years. He was a devoted Christian who put his family ahead of himself. He lived out his faith, continually encouraging his family in their Christian walk through his own devotion. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. The family thanks their Methodist Hospice team, Jennifer Blanchard and Mary Townsend, for their kind and compassionate care and encouragement. The family will receive friends and family at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, from 12:00 - 2:00, with funeral services to begin at 2:00.
