It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vester Verniece Johnson beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother of Memphis TN, who peacefully passed away on January 24, 2025, at the age of 93.

Vester was born a twin in 1931 in Hornsby, TN to Annabell & Jesse Kiestler and was the youngest of six children. She endured many hard times throughout life, but her amazing strength pulled her through each adversity.

She was a hardworking woman that raised 5 children on her own. She was the proud owner of Vester's Lounge, and VJ's BBQ & Pub. She made and had so many friends.

Her family was most important to her, and she loved each and everyone of us. She was incredibly proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Vester was a force of nature. She was full of life and positive energy. She loved to fish, garden and cook and she excelled in all three. She also loved to travel and was able to see many, many places that we're sure she never dreamed of as possible as she picked cotton as a young girl. She was a generous woman that helped so many through the years. People have described her as "a legend", "one of a kind" and said "they broke the mold when they made her".

She was in a 30-year-loving relationship with Glenn Murphy.

She is survived by her children: Judy, Janie, Larry, Sherry and Dale, her grandchildren: Carol, Brian and Michael, and her great grandchildren: Trent, Jaxon, Austin and Savannah. She is preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Ruby, Jewel, Virgie, Jesse & Chester (twin) as well as her granddaughter, Martie Jane.

We loved her with all our hearts and will miss her even more.
