Vern E. Hamm, 90 of Millington, passed away March 18, 2023.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Valerie M. Hamm; daughters, Cindy Fulks (Dwight) and Rita Burkes (Jodie); grandchildren, Chris Olson (Jessica), Lisa Halteman (Jeff), and Joe Ferguson; and great grandchildren, Haley Holmes, Dylan Holmes, Anthony Holmes, Layla Olson, and Olivia Olson.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua David Ferguson; brother, Bryan Hamm; and his parents, Asa Bryan and Eura Eugenia Hamm.

Mr. Vern served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After his time in the military, he joined the Shelby County Sheriffs Department and became the first motorcycle Deputy on the force. He later became employed as a Vehicle Technician for the Shelby County Department of Health.

He was a member of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church in Millington for 10 years and was a member of the former Masonic Lodge in Frasier. He was a talented craftsman, restoring furniture and cars.

Service will be held at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church in Millington on March 22, 2023 with interment in the West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
