Seymour L. Perper, age 93, passed away Thursday, June 10, 2012 at his residence in Millington, TN. Mr. Perper was retired from the US Navy as a Chief TDC, and also worked as an affiliate broker with Met Life and Northwestern National Insurance companies. He was a Civic Events Planner for the City of Millington, and served as the Lieutenant Governor of Optimists International for the State of Tennessee. He volunteered countless hours as a Scout Leader with Boy Scouts of America, and was an active member of the Masons, the Shriners and the Order of the Eastern Star. Mr. Perper was preceded in death by his wife, Janet M. Perper, and two brothers, Alex and Wilem Perper. He leaves one son, James D. Perper of Millington; one daughter, Judith E. Ritter and her husband Joseph of Arnold, MO; one sister, Arli Cochrac of Miami, FL; three grandchildren, Timothy J. Ritter and his wife Angela of Ft. Wayne, IN, Peter S. Ritter and his wife Mistti, of Arnold, and James D. Perper II of Parsons, TN; and three great-grandchildren, Kathleen M. Ritter and Alec D. Ritter of Ft. Wayne and Holle Ritter of Arnold. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 16, from 2 pm until 4 pm at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home, 6755 Hwy. 51 N. in Millington. A Celebration of Life Service, with full military honors, will follow at 4 p.m., also at the funeral home. The family has requested that any memorials be directed to the Wounded Warriors Project.
