Robert Martyn Smith of Atoka, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away on Sept. 10. Robert served with the Marines in Vietnam and retired as an Army Master Sargent after serving with the Army Reserve in Iraq. He was awarded two Purple Hearts, three Army Commendation Medals, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and others. He leaves his wife of 44 years, Debbie Smith, daughter Kara Smith, son Robbie Smith and sister and brother-in-law Lucy and Bill Conley. He will be greatly missed by his four grandchildren Hunter, Hayley, Lauren and Jakob and his favorite cat Misty. Bob was a happy, loving and hard-working man whom some may remember from his 17 years working for Navy Morale, Welfare and Recreation in Millington. The memorial service for Bob will be Saturday, Sept. 16 between 10AM-12PM at East Acres Baptist Church, 6904 Navy Rd., Millington. The burial service, with full military honors, will be Thurs. Sept. 14th 10:00AM at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest-Hill Irene Rd., Memphis.
