Obituary

On March 4 2024, Richard Neil Bennett lost his fight to cancer in Houston, TX. He was 61 years old.

Neil is survived by his mother Pauline Bennett of Millington,TN; his wife, Anita Bennett; his children, Rachael Tibbits (Brandon), Michelle, and Cole; his 5 grandchildren: Ryden, Brantley, Maisyn, Kodi Rae and Hartley; His siblings Bruce (Cyndi), Karen Matthews (Rod) and Jason of Memphis, TN. He was preceded in death by his father Gordon Bennett.

Neil was born on October 11, 1962 in Memphis, Tn. He graduated from Trezvant High School in 1981 and went on to become a Memphis Police Officer from which he retired as a Lieutenant after 28 years of service. He attended Memphis School of Preaching and graduated with the true yoke fellow award in 2016 and was the preacher for Stanton Church of Christ for the last 9 years. Neil was an avid UT Vols and Dallas Cowboys football fan. He spent most of his days studying and exploring the unsearchable riches of Christ in God's word, developing sermons and classes to preach Christ to those he met in his daily life. He greatly enjoyed attending the multiple lectureships of the Lord's church and traveling to Polishing the Pulpit (PTP) in Sevierville every year. He loved eating and discovering great food especially Memphis BBQ and Italian. He enjoyed taking his family to dinners and on family vacations. His pride and crowning joy of life were his grandchildren who he showered with love.

A memorial service for Richard Neil Bennett is scheduled for Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 3 pm. The visitation will be from 1 pm - 3 pm at Forest Hill Church of Christ, 3950 Forest Hill Irene Rd Germantown, TN 38125. A private family graveside service will be on Monday, March 18, 2024 at Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery.
