Pennye C. Houston PENNYE C. HOUSTON, 51, died at home on Saturday, April 25, 2009 after a 3 year battle with Lou Gehrig''s disease (ALS). She retired from the Navy after 16 years of service. She attended State Tech and received her BS degree, worked at the State Attorney General''s office and then became a paralegal in the law firm of Vicki L. Green. Pennye will be remembered in love by her two daughters, Shawna Houston and Samantha Houston of Topsham, Maine; her mother, Edith Glenn of Millington, TN; her two sisters, Vicki Green of Millington, TN and Kristi S. Hupf of Tunica, MS; her foster sister, Barbara Rainwater of Millington; her furry friends, Andy and Fonzi, and her extended family and many friends and associates. Pennye was a loving and giving person who enjoyed singing in the choir, served as a Sunday school teacher and Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Sorrows Church and was an active member of the Neshoba Unitarian Church in Memphis. She spent many hours answering the phones at the Memphis Crisis Center, a Master Gardener (Stratford Institute) and was a member of the Millington Lions Club. Her legacy of life, love and giving will live on in those who knew her. Interment will be a private ceremony at the West Union Cemetery. In lieu of a memorial service, Pennye requested an Irish wake to celebrate her life and her struggle with ALS which will be arranged and friends and family notified at a later date. The family requests that memorials be sent to the Millington Crisis Center, the Millington Lions Club or the charity of the donor''s choice.
