Mary Lou Wilkerson, 83, went to be with the Lord on October 20, 2009 after a brief illness at Baptist Memorial Hospital. She attended Nursing school in West Virginia; she worked for City of Memphis in the accounting department and retired from the Memphis Fire Department where she was a secretary in the maintenance department.
She is survived by her two sisters, Mildred Calvert, Carol Durst; 4 children, Rebecca Abbott, Vicki Finch, Sara Escue (Jim), and Ted Vanderburg; 8 grand-children, Melissa Estes, Jerry Don Skinner, David Abbott, Chris Ridgeway, Michael Escue, William Escue, Tiffany Barclay and Johnny Vanderburg. 14 great-grandchildren; Calab Escue, Maggie Jean Escue, David Escue, Kimberly Escue, Noah Escue, Zach Estes, Chandler Estes, Brooke Abbott, Emily Abbott, Brittany Foust, Charlie Barclay, Amzi Barclay, James Ridgeway and Jonathan Ridgeway and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by the father of her children, William P. Vanderburg Jr., and her husband F. L. "Lum" Wilkerson, her parents, Everett Boley and Zelma Pethtel of St. Marys, W.V., her son, William P. Vanderburg III, great-grandson Conner Escue, two sisters, Betty Kent and Joann Nichols; two brothers, Carl E. and Joe E. Boley.
Visitation will be 6:00 pm. - 8:00 pm., Saturday, October 24, 2009 and Services will be at 2:00 pm. at Mt. Vernon Memorial Church on October 25, 2009 and graveside services will be on Monday, October 26, 2009 at 11:00 am. at the Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery, 901-872-3375, www.northridgefh.com.
