IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Ann
Tindle
June 19, 1956 – February 21, 2023
Mary Ann Tindle was born Mary Ann Carter in June of 1956 near McGehee, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Oren and Billie Ruth Carter and big sister of Tammy Stratton, Travis Carter, and Lisa Carter. She went home to be with the Lord on February 21, 2023, surrounded by family and loved ones, at the age of 66.
Known to those who loved her as Momma, Granny Ann, and Aunt Ann, she lived a rich life marked by generous love. As a child, she lost her hearing which led to her love of books. After graduating from Germantown High School, she followed her passion for literature and reading by studying library science at Memphis State University. As her family grew, she made a home in many different places including, San Jose, CA, Huntsville, AL, Cocoa Beach, FL, and Munford, TN.
Mary Ann met her husband, Tim, in Munford and married in January 1996. She loved her family deeply and enjoyed staying in touch, even corresponding with distant relatives and staying up to date with life events. Always busy with her hands, she enjoyed making crafts as well as knitting and crocheting. She kept her house full of life with plants and flowers that she cared for. Those who knew her remember her always having a cup of unsweet tea in her hand and saving little gifts to give to people she loved. Among other things she loved were John Grisham books, thrift stores, and, despite being deaf, music and theater.
As a longtime member of Munford Church of Christ, she was a great woman of faith who left a legacy of faith in her children. She was known to read the Bible all the way through every year from age sixteen, a total of fifty times in her life.
She is survived by her husband, Tim Tindle of Drummonds and her five children: John (wife Brooke and children Joshua and Marlania) of Broken Arrow, OK, Jason Mathis of Munford, Pam Welch (husband Jonathan and children Abigail, Matthew, Sarah, and Paul) of Oakland, Thomas Mathis (husband Tom Chard) of Arlington, and Tim Mathis (wife Aracelia and children Daniel, Enoch, and Lucy) of Memphis. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
