Brown Cole
August 2, 1937 – July 13, 2020
Mary Elizabeth was born to on August 2, 1937 in Olive Branch Mississippi to the
late Albert Cooper Brown and Betty Louise Annie Lee Aldridge Brown.
She professed her hope in Christ Jesus at an early age at Oak Grove M B church in
Bartlett TN. She Later became a member of Saint Paul M B Church in Millington
TN where she served on the usher board, Sunday School teacher and Mother
Board for many years. She became a member of Charity Christian Community
Church (C4) in August 2012where she served faithfully until she called home to be
with the Lord. She stepped out history and entered into eternity on July 13, 2020.
She graduated from EA Harold High School which was the last graduating class
before it became and elementary school.
She was employed by the Shelby County School System where she worked in the
Woodstock Elementary School cafeteria. She was one of the best cooks of her
time and always loved on the students as she served meals to countless children
coming through the school lunch line. She retired after more than 20 years of
service.
She was joined in Matrimony with her husband Essie B. Cole on November 21,
1958. To this union five children were born; 2 daughters and 3 sons. She, leaves to
mourn her passing, her husband Essie B. Cole, daughters Jacquelyn Faye Love,
Gwendolyn (Vernell) Stornes of Kissimmee FL; sons Terry (Jacqueline),Cole
Timothy (Glynis) Cole, Kenny(Helen) Cole all of Memphis TN, She was also blessed
to be a mother to Gale(Allen)Barton of Millington TN who was more than a sister
in law but her daughter as well; 16 grand-children; 22 great-grand-children. Her
sisters Naomi Goode, Nimmie Brown, Beatty Jean Powell, Elanor Diggs, Thelma
Cole, Vernell Brown, Yvonne Waters, Jerry Brown and Gary Brown,; brother and
sister-in-law, a host of nieces nephews, cousin, and friends.Her sister Berniece
Buckley and a brother Albert Brown preceded her in death.
