Martha Helen Hobday,85, of Cordova, passed away on November 6. She had a great faith in her great God and is now with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for eternity.
Visitation and funeral services will be held at Bellevue Baptist Church in Cordova, TN on Thursday, November 10. Visitation with the family will begin at 11:00 AM followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home and Cemetery in Millington, TN.
Helen was born on February 22, 1931 in Burlison, TN to Tobe and Annie Baskin on February 22, 1931. She moved to Memphis in 1955 where she met and married James (Jim) Hobday. She was the mother of two boys and she took great joy in raising them and enjoyed working in her yard and garden. Her greatest joy was serving Her Lord. She was a very active member in the churches she attended, including Dellwood Baptist Church, Munford Baptist Church and most recently, Bellevue Baptist Church.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband Jim Hobday, her parents Tobe Mathenel Baskin and Annie Rice Baskin, her brothers Stanley Baskin, Leanord Baskin, Marice Baskin, HC Baskin, sisters Willie Mae Delk, Pauline Thompson, Inez Glass, Virginia Wilson and Barbara Bryson.
Helen is survived by her sons, Mike (Susan) Hobday of Cordova, TN, and Pat (Jackie) Hobday of Edmund, OK. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kayla (Michael) Garner and Andrew (Mary) Hobday as well as her great grandchildren, Lydia and Audrey Garner.
