Obituary

Kenneth Harvey Dixon, age 81, passed away Friday February 26, 2021 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, TN.  He was born July 19, 1939 in England, AR to the late Henry Harvey Dixon and Dora Annes Dixon.

He graduated from Crossett High School in 1957.  He was employed by the Georgia Pacific Paper Mill in Crossett, AR from 1957 until enlisting in the Navy on October 11, 1961.  He traveled the world he served his country with distinction, retiring on October 31, 1991 with the rank of Master Chief.  He later went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology from Southern Illinois University on May 14, 1994 and was employed by the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

He enjoyed many activities, playing softball, bowling, golfing and was a Memphis Redbirds fan.  He and his wife enjoyed dancing,  competing as country and western dancers, founding the Dixie Dancers in Millington, TN, and square dancing with the Dungarees and Petticoats, Pistols and Petticoats, and Top Spinners.

He was a devout man of God.  For many years he was a member of and served as an usher for the NSA Mid-South Protestant Chapel in Millington, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings: Faye Dixon, Jewel Dean Crouch, Barbara Smith, and Bobby Dixon.

He is survived by his wife Jeannette Dixon, daughter Donna Carter, son Chris Dixon, 5 grandchildren: Tabetha Gregory, Lee Carter, Adam Dixon, Angela Dixon, Carissa Dixon, and 4 great-grandchildren: Katheryn Godfrey, Rowan Carter, Richard Godfrey,  Knox Price.

He is also survived by his siblings, Laverne Massey, Mildred Bays, Loy Dixon, Betty Kinnison, Mary Thomas, Pam Hipp, Jimmy Dixon, and Billy Dixon.

Funeral services will be held graveside at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home in Millington, TN, March 10, 2021 at 2:00pm.  Visitation will be held from 1:00pm – 2:00pm.  Due to COVID concerns, viewing will be allowed in small groups only and masks are required.
