Obituary

Kay was born to Acy and Margie Scallion on June 24, 1942. She was very proud to turn 80 this year. She died on Monday, July 11, 2022. Her husband of 54 years, John Terry, preceded her in death.

She is survived by two children, Thomas Wayne Terry, and Troy Daniel Terry. She is also survived by her two grandchildren; Laura Michelle Hubbard; and Elizabeth Marie Williams.

She is one of five children, She has three remaining siblings, including two sisters, Penny and Judy, and a younger brother, Randy. Her older brother Joe preceded her in death.

Kay was devoted to family. She wanted a simple life and a good life for her children. Although she was not rich in the material things of this world, she was a diligent worker and homemaker. She worked for many years at Sears in the 60s and then devoted herself as a homemaker. Everyone who has worked alongside Kay or shared time with her has always spoken highly of her.

She enjoyed spending time with her family (bowling, shooting pool, fishing, and playing softball). She loved arts and crafts (painting, crochet, needlepoint, sewing, quilting, and tailoring). She was a very talented lady. She was known to purchase patterns and make clothes for family. She loved music (church hymns, Rock and Roll, and I just found out today, Elvis - This may explain why John did not like Elvis). She would occasionally surprise the roughhouse boys in the neighborhood by joining in a game of baseball, and she would really show them how to play. One childhood memory was Kay (Mom) picking Tom up from kindergarten with their crazy dog, Jaz, and the memorable walk home. Other memories included desserts she loved to make (pies, cakes, and DIVINITY) with family eagerly waiting to snag the treats. Those who know her appreciated her sense of humor. When she was gathered with friends and family, her laughter could always be heard.

Like so many of our loved ones, life's greatest enemy death has taken away another of our loved family members. Since we were not created to die, there is no emotion within the human family designed to deal with the death of a loved one.

Death is unnatural. We simply were not designed to live a few short years and then expire. It was not part of the Creator's purpose for the human family. Until its sting is removed, once and for all, we will continue to lose those we cherish to that great enemy.

Fortunately, we can find hope and comfort in the fact that God's Word, the Bible, assures us that in the very near future, no one will say they are sick; no one will say they are sick; no one will experience the pains of poor health; and death will be a thing of the past.

Until that time, we find comfort in Jesus words recorded in John 5:28 & 29 where he promises that:

"the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out to a resurrection of life."

Kay is no longer suffering the pain of sickness. She is simply asleep in death and her future life is in the hands of our loving Creator.

We the family and friends of Kay, look forward to seeing her again someday, as we welcome her back to life in the Promised Resurrection where she will return to the days of her youth and vigor and the sting of death will be no more. Until that time, we will miss our dear loved one.
