Obituary

Karan Legg-Kitterman was a caring mother, memaw, and friend to many. She passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on January 30, 2022, at the age of 61.
Karan was born on February 10, 1960, to Angie and Jack Terry in Memphis, TN. Her zest for life, freedom and discovery took her overseas to study during high school, andvshe graduated from The Baleares International School in Mallorca, Spain in 1977.Shortly after high school, she met James (Jimmy) Legg, and they wed. In the coming years, Karan would grow as a devoted wife and mother. Being a mom was one of the most important parts of Karan's life, a role that gave her pride and joy. Karan dedicated her life to being a supportive and loving stay-at-home mom to her sons. She thrived as a mother, supporting her sons in their passion for sports, creating a loving and nurturing environment for their growth, and maintaining a well-run household. She was an excellent mom, demonstrating independence, resiliency, authenticity, and strength—traits she passed on to her three sons. Karan was lucky enough to find love more than once in her life and married Gary Kitterman in 2003. Karan and Gary were soulmates who shared years of love and laughter together before his passing in 2014. Like her own mom, becoming a memaw was a source of happiness and enthusiasm for Karan. She fiercely loved her grandchildren and was overjoyed as her family continued
to grow throughout the prime of her life. Karen loved the outdoors; when she wasn't spending time with those she loved most,
she could be found embracing nature in her garden, reading Danielle Steele or riding on the back of a motorcycle. She was a wonderful cook, perfecting the recipe for homemade tacos and lasagna.
Karen was preceded in death by her mother and father; husband, Gary; sisters, Cindy and Gina; and brother, Jack David. She is survived by her sons, Zack (Bonnie), Bobby (Ashley), and Rowdy (Bekah); Brother, Cecil; and grandkids, Jordan, Brianna, Reagan, Riley-Kate, as well as her life-long best friend, Sue.
Karan made it her mission to improve the lives of others and demonstrated empathy,
compassion, kindness and acceptance to everyone she met. She exemplified the virtues of humanity, and her presence will be missed by many.
