Joyce was born in Ashport, TN, on October 26, 1931, to her loving parents, Seba and Hattie Smith.  She entered into Glory on April 16, 2018 after a short illness at Jackson Madison County Hospital.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Jewell C. Young; her sisters, Ovilur Gean, Miriam Brown, and Marie Ballard; her brothers, Lawrence Smith, and Virgil Smith.

Those left to cherish Joyce's memory include her daughter, Patsy Winfield (Don) of Bethel Springs, with whom she resided; her sons, Ted Young (Wanda) of Memphis, and Roger Young of Selmer; her grandchildren, Gerald Young (Lori) and Shellee Young; her great grandchildren, Meghan Young, Connor Young, Zachary Young, and Samuel Young; Her sisters, Libby Walker, and Jean Blair; 4 step grandchildren and 13 step great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Joyce attended West Frayser Baptist Church and Faith Bible Church when she lived in Memphis.  After her move to Ripley, TN, she attended Durhamville Baptist Church where she made many wonderful friends.

Joyce was devoted to her family and friends.  She especially enjoyed cooking and baking.  Many Saturday evenings were spent with family gathered around the dinner table enjoying a delicious meal.  A lot of those meals had the vegetables and pear preserves that she had canned.  On a sunny day, you would find Joyce working in her vegetable and flower gardens.  During the winter, she preferred crocheting or maybe piecing and hand stitching a beautiful quilt, just to name a few of her hobbies.

The family will dearly miss her until they are all together again at the Lord's Table.
