IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph Scott
Hendren
February 21, 1977 – September 7, 2023
Joseph Scott Hendren, age 46, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2023, surrounded by his family at his home in Millington, TN, following a five year battle with brain cancer. Scott was born in Memphis, TN in 1977 to Joe and Patsy Hendren.
He married Holly Blankenship on October 16, 1998, and together they raised three children: Tori, Abbi, and Andrew.
Scott was an active member of First Baptist Church Millington and was honored to serve his congregation as a deacon and a Life Group teacher. Among the greatest joys of his life include seeing each of his three children saved and baptized.
After graduating from Christian Brothers University, he worked for twenty years as an Electrical Engineer at FedEx in Memphis.
Scott is survived by his wife: Holly Blankenship Hendren; their children: Victoria Hendren Myers (Zack), Abigail Grace Hendren, and Andrew Scott Hendren; his parents: Joe and Patsy Hendren; his brother: Timmy Hendren (Liza); his sister: Melissa Hendren; his parents-in-law: Dennis and Troyis Blankenship; a brother-in-law: Chad Blankenship (Wendy); one niece: Ava Grace Hendren; and three nephews: Aaron Blankenship, Houston Hendren, and Eli Hendren.
Scott's greatest desire in life was to serve his Savior well. One way Scott found to serve was by offering scholarships to students in need so they could attend camps or mission trips. He did this in hopes that those events would contribute to those students coming to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. He longed to see people know Jesus as Lord then for them to share Jesus with others. If you would like to honor Scott's legacy by contributing towards a scholarship fund, please contribute to First Baptist Church Millington in his honor.
Scott's funeral will be held at First Baptist Church Millington5010 W Union Rd. Millington, TN 38053, on Saturday, September 9 at 2 PM. The family will receive visitors beginning at noon. Interment will follow at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home and Cemetery, 6755 HWY 51 N. Millington, TN 38053.
