John Arden McMullen, born March 3, 1930, passed into the care of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 19, 2012. "Dad" joined the U.S> Navy on November 8, 1948. His first duty station was at Patuxent River, MD where he met and married our Mom, Kitty (Ramos) McMullen, who passed on to be with the Lord February 21, 2007. We, his children, Stephanie (Robert) Selph, Vickie (Louis-deceased) Miller and John T. (Kim) McMullen led an adventure packed life with mom & dad as a career military family. Dad retired from the Navy after 22 years 8 months 7 days and 14 minutes of service! Two years later, he was "rehired" as a Civil Service Instructor at NATTC Memphis, Millington, TN where he enjoyed another 20 years of service before permanently retiring to his work shop and the Glen Eagle golf Course. Dad was also preceded in death by our little brother Mike. Dad has 3 grandchildren, Shane (Char) Selph of Bartlett, Elisia McMullen and Alexandra McMullen both of Millington; 3 great grandchildren, Damian Hyatt of Vancouver, WA, Brooklyn Hyatt, and Kynnedi Maclin of Millington and 3 adopted great grandchildren, Kelton Stacks, Austin Stacks, and Makayla Selph of Bartlett. Dad''s commitment to work hard and play hard served him well through the years and lives on in the love and devotion of his children. Dad passed, 3 months after his diagnosis of cancer, at home in the loving care of his children and grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home Tuesday, November 20, from 5 - 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home, Wednesday, November 21, at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be at National Cemetery Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. The family requests that memorials be sent to First Baptist Church of Millington Harvest Fund or First Baptist Academy School Fund.
