JOHN LAWRENCE TERRY
John Lawrence Terry, known to his family and friends as Bubba, was born to Richard and Alma Terry on August 3, 1939. He died on March 1, 2016 at the age of 76.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kay Nell Terry and two children, Thomas Wayne Terry and Troy Daniel Terry. He is also survived by his two grandchildren; Laura Michelle Hubbard; and, Elizabeth Marie Williams.
He is one of six children. His older brother Richard preceded him in death. He has four remaining siblings including three younger brothers, Charles, Kenneth and Tommy and a younger sister Peggy.
Bubba was a simple man with simple needs. A quality that many envy, but few acquire. Although he was not rich in the material things of this world, he was a diligent worker and a loving provider for his family. He worked at Sears from 1958 until retirement in 1999. Those who worked alongside of Bubba always spoke highly of his work ethic.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, bowling, shooting pool and fishing. He loved music, Rock and Roll. He would occasionally surprise everyone by playing a tune on the harmonica. Those who knew him appreciated his sense of humor. When he was gathered with his friends and family, his laughter could always be heard.
Like so many of our loved ones, life''s greatest enemy death has taken away another of our loved family members. Since man was not created to die, there is no emotion within the human family designed to deal with the death of a loved one.
Man simply was not designed to live a few short years and then expire. Death is unnatural. It was not part of the Creator''s purpose for the human family. Until its sting is removed, once and for all, we will continue to lose those we cherish to that great enemy.
Fortunately, we can find hope and comfort in the fact that God''s Word, the Bible, assures us that in the very near future, no one will say they are sick; no one will experience the pains of poor health; and, death will be a thing of the past.
Until that time, we find comfort in Jesus words recorded in John 5:28, 29 where he promises that:
"the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out to a resurrection of life."
Bubba is no longer suffering the pain of sickness. He is simply asleep in death and his future life is in the hands of our loving Creator Jehovah.
We the family and friends of Bubba, look forward to seeing him again someday, as we welcome him back to life in the Promised Resurrection where he will return to the days of his youth and vigor and the sting of death will be no more. Until that time, we will miss our dear loved one.
