John Thomas Allen, age 80, passed away to be with our Lord on July 30, 2011 at his home in Memphis, TN. Visitation will be 5-8 pm on Tuesday, August 2 and funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3, both at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home. Interment with military honors to follow at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. Mr. Allen was born July 26, 1931 to Ophie Lester "Jack" and Eunice Irene Allen of Humboldt, TN. He has one sister, Valeria Swor of Napa, CA. He graduated from Hulbert High School in West Memphis, AR in 1950. He was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Wayne Allen, and one grandson, Justin Larry Snyder. He was in the US Army, the National Guard, and the Coast Guard Reserve. He also served as a UAW Chaplain. Mr. Allen loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a devoted husband of 51 years to Donna Allen and a loving dad to twelve living children: Michael Allen (Mary), Annette Ginn (Donnie), Jamie Corum (David), Aretha Parbs, Tom Allen (Kimberly), Monica Taylor, Laura Ford (Larry), David Allen (Kimberly), Daniel Allen (Paula), Rebecca Schilling (Rodney), Ira Shawn Allen (Robyn), and LaDonna Taylor (Robert).
