Mr. James "Smitty" Leland Smith , 68, of Memphis, Tennessee passed away after a long illness on November 18, 2023.  He was born in Harrisburg, Arkansas to the late Carl and Martha Smith.

Smitty was a Veteran of the 101st Army Airborne division.  Early in his career, he managed local bands Creed, Ransom, and R.T. Scott Band.  He was in the sign business for over 30 years, working for for local sign companies Peck Industries, Memphis Sign Erectors, and Spectacular Signs.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Carl and Martha Smith, sister; Lisa Ruben, and brother; Randle Smith, and grandparents James Leland and Alicie Lucille House Smith.

Mr. Smith is survived by his children; Amanda Lamb (Michael) and Mark Smith(Tiffany), sisters; Beverly Smith and Donna Smith, Grandchildren; Madison and Kaitlynn Smith, Gavin and Kylie Ledet.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday December 13, 2023 from 1 PM until 2 PM., Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home, 6755 HWY 51 N. Millington, TN 38053. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home.  Inurnment will be held at a later date at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
