Irene D. Beard, 91, of Memphis, TN went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, August 6, 2019. Ms. Beard was born on January 5, 1928, to William A. and Dora L. Daugherty in Bartlett, TN. She attended Bartlett schools all the way until she graduated from Bartlett High School. She was a charter member of Georgian Hills United Methodist Church. She has been recently a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Ms. Beard worked for the Memphis Park Commission for many years and later worked for several years at the Commercial Appeal. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Eckhardt (Dean); and granddaughter, Deborah A. Eckhardt. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Saturday, August 10, 2019, from 1-2 pm with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm. All services and interment will be held at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home and Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to either: Memphis Union Mission, Salvation Army, or St. Mark's United Methodist Church. Ms. Beard was a loyal, faithful follower of our Lord Jesus Christ.
