Herbert Lyn Waldon, 84 of Millington passed away June 21, 2023.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Carole Mae Waldon; son, Roger Lynn Waldon (Linda); and granddaughter, Blair Elizabeth Waldon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Odette Waldon.
Lyn lived a very active and fulfilling life. He and Carole were members of a Camping Club where they, along with Roger, would take many trips camping and boating at area lakes and the gulf coast. He loved animals, and had numerous dogs throughout the years that were very special to him.
He was a longtime member of the Shriners, starting with the Al Chymia Temple of Memphis and later joined the Wahabi Temple of DeSoto. During the years with the Shriners he and Carole attended many parties and events, never missing a chance to dress up and go dancing. He was also a part of the Dune Patrol unit of the Shriners, and participated in many parades in his Dune Buggy.
He began his career at the Firestone Tire & Rubber plant in Memphis where he worked until the plant closed. After that, he began a career with the City of Memphis where he ultimately retired. He attended education classes with the city to become a Mechanical Engineer and spent the majority of his time working in the Flood Control Unit, and retired as a Supervisor of the unit.
Lyn loved his family and was especially proud of his son and granddaughter. He and the entire family loved spending time at the lake house on Pickwick Lake. He enjoyed spending time fishing off the pier and boat riding on the lake. Many memorable moments for the family were made at the lake house.
Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
