Henry Leo VanNess, Jr. passed away on October 2, 2017 in Memphis, TN. He is survived by 2 sisters, Jean VanNess Smith and Mary Virginia (Gena) VanNess Foote; two stepchildren, Larry Dalton Ford (Omega Eldora Doss Ford) and Sheila May Ford Jonas; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 28 years, Mary Louise Ford VanNess; his parents, Henry Leo VanNess, Sr. and Mary Erminie Willett VanNess; one brother, Gerald Godfery VanNess; four sisters, Catherine Finn Archette, Mary Ruth Krob, Hilda McGlothin, Theresa Magadlene Fister; and one niece.

Mr. VanNess was a proud and distinguished military veteran. He served in the US Army in the Airborne Division and retired as a Sergeant from the US Air Force. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 6 from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m., at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., with burial immediately afterward at Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery.
