Obituary

Harry Watson Simpson, 98, a resident of Kirby Pines Retirement Community, went home to his Lord on August 20, 2018.  Born on October 13, 1919, in Yalobusha County, Mississippi, he was the son of Dena and Louis Simpson.  He was predeceased by his parents, 6 siblings, and his precious angel, Dorothy Hayles Simpson.  He leaves a brother, Gene Simpson, of Water Valley, Mississippi, a son, Steve (Dianna) Simpson, of Collierville, Tennessee, a daughter, Joanie (Rusty) Helms, of Arab, Alabama, 5 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.  A World War II Navy Veteran, Simpson served in both the Atlantic and Pacific campaigns, having survived the sinking of his ship by a German submarine.  He enjoyed his church, outdoor activities, sharing stories, and entertaining.  Gran loved his family dearly and shared his faith by the way he lived his life.  Visitation will be held at Bellevue Baptist Church Chapel  on Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 1:00 pm until Funeral service time at 2 PM. The funeral service will follow at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bellevue Baptist Church Foundation or to a charity of the donor's choice.
