Gunter Philipps, 85, died peacefully on February 27, 2017 with his family surrounding him. He was born in Heistenbach, Germany, and was still a member of St. Peter's in Diez, Germany. Upon moving to Memphis he joined Greenlaw Baptist Church. He retired from Wonder Breads and Ronco, and was an avid supporter of the University of Memphis Tigers. He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Kurt Philipps and Karl Philipps; two daughters, Deborah Pugh and Julianna Murry; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 31 years, Betty Jeannine Philipps; a brother, Kurt Philipps; a sister, Ellen Stoppler; and his parents, Karl and Mina Philipps. Visitation will be held beginning at 12:00 Saturday, March 4, 2017 with a graveside service to follow at 2:00 Saturday, Northridge/Woodhaven Funeral Home. Services for Mr. Philipps have been entrusted to Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home.
