Geraldine Holder, age 80, went to be with our Creator October 27, 2021 peacefully at her home in Covington, TN. She was brought into this world June 20 th , 1941 in Rochester, New York to James Gerald Hicks and Arlene Grace Hicks. Mrs. Holder was raised in in Memphis, TN, graduating from Frayser High School in 1959. She met the love of her life, Bill Holder, and they married in the spring of 1959. Soon after they exchanged vows, the young couple was stationed in Virginia for Billy's duty with the US Navy. They returned to Memphis in 1961 and settled in the Rugby Hills neighborhood. There she raised her 3 children while worshipping the Lord at Rugby Hills Baptist Church where she played the organ and piano. Mrs. Holder worked at Rugby Hills as church secretary, later moving to secretary at Calvary Episcopal Church in Downtown Memphis. In 1994, Bill and Gerry moved to Covington, TN. There they built their final home. Bill had his cows and Gerry had her chickens, among a slew of other barnyard friends. Mrs. Holder worked for the Tipton County Parole office alongside Ivan Stephenson for many years. After retirement Mrs. Holder enjoyed working in her garden, taking care of her chickens, keeping up with the grandchildren, and fellowship with family and friends.
Mrs. Holder was the oldest child of the late Gerald and Arlene Hicks. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Holder, grandson Ben Pylant, brother Jimbo Hicks and sister Jo Tubbs. She leaves her 3 children, Debbie (Larry) Pylant, Terri (Steve) Cruze, and David (Susan) Holder; 7 grandchildren, Josh (Lace) Cruze, Fay (Ed) Leto, Cody Cruze, Will (Mandy) Holder, Daniel Pylant, Nathan (Kristen) Holder, and Bobby Holder; 2 great-grandsons, Liam Holder and Axel Holder, and 2 more great-grandchildren (Will and Nathan) expected to arrive in January 2022. Also surviving Mrs. Holder are her Sister in law, Patt Hicks, brother in law, Fred Tubbs, brother in law Mike (Lindy) Holder, their children and grandchildren.
The family wants to express their sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses at CrossRoads Hospice, Home Choice Health Services, and Ms. Esther Bland, for their devotion to care, compassion and love given to Mrs. Holder.
Celebrating her life and love to all she met, her family has scheduled visitation and internment service for Mrs. Holder on Tuesday November 2, 2021 starting at 10:00 am at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home, 6755 Hwy 51 N, Millington, TN 38053.
