George Allen "Al" McClain, age 78, of Brighton, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born on August 8, 1943  in Guilford County, North Carolina to the late George Holton and Sarah Elizabeth (Beleu) McClain.

Al worked as a sprinkler fitter at National Automatic Sprinklers Local 669 and enjoyed music, especially gospel, country, and the good old fashioned oldies from the 1950s and 1960s, as well as cruisin' around in his 1968 Chevelle.  He was also a member of Faith Assembly of God and loved his church family, and he served in the US Navy.

In addition to his parents, Al is preceded in death by his aunt that raised him, Georgia Dennie.

Al is survived by his beloved wife, Katherine "Kathy" (Thurmond) McClain, daughter Sherri McClain, son Jason Allen McClain, sister-in-laws Virginia Byford and Joyce Proctor (John), brother-in-law Ronald Flickinger, cousin Gene Dennie (Audrey), a close friend that he considers to be his baby sister and whom he called "Shorty", Diane Atchison, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home, 6755 Hwy 51 N, Millington from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at 2:00 pm with Reverend Rob McDaniel of Faith Assembly of God officiating.  Burial will follow at Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Ted Wicker, Michael Proctor, Erin Hayes, Gunter Delashmit, Luke Hayes, and Chad Delashmit.  Honorary pallbearers are John Proctor and Jason McClain
