ELBERT EARL CATES, 82, died Thursday, March 25, 2010 at home in Brighton, TN. Elbert was a long time Memphis resident until five years ago when he and his wife Mary moved to Brighton to be closer to family. Elbert is survived by his wife, Mary Cates; son, Richard E. Cates. daughters, Linda F. Riley, Marsha S. Vest, Carol M. Hollaway, Deborah I. Walker and Dee Anna Hussey; brothers, Hubert, Raymond, Dave, Quitman and Albert Cates; sisters, Thelma Boyle, Mary Burnside, Ruth Sprouse and Marnell Maxey; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and good friends.
Visitation will be held from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, March 28 at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home in Millington, TN.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 29 in the First United Pentecostal Church at 1938 Holly Grove Road in Covington, TN.
