Ed Craig, Veteran News Anchor for Channel 13 Eyewitness News, passed away in Bartlett at the home of his daughter on Monday morning, January 28, 2013, at the age of 80 after suffering complications from COPD. As an only child, Ed was born and raised in Memphis, TN, grew up singing and serving at Bellevue Baptist Church, served in the Korean war while in the United States Air Force where he began a long career in radio and television news. In 1957, while working as a DJ and newsman at WDLP Radio, Ed married Bonnie, the love of his life, who passed away in 2005 after a battle with breast cancer. Ed and Bonnie celebrated almost 50 years of marriage together. They were the loving and devoted parents of Deborah Craig of Millington, Kathryn Brooks of Bartlett, Patricia Lee of Arlington, and DeAnne McNeal of Atoka. Ed leaves his four daughters as well as eight grandsons, one granddaughter (baby girl) and five great grandchildren, all of whom Ed and Bonnie adored. Ed also leaves many great friends with many great memories. Some of his last words were, "I really hate leaving all of you behind, but I know where I''m going and I''m ready." All are invited to Ed''s visitation to be held at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, January 30, from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. and his Celebration of Life and Home Going Service at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, also at Northridge Woodhaven Funeral Home.
