DOROTHY JOHANNA HOMANN (nee Kluck), 99 years old, died January 9, 2011 at Applingwood Healthcare Center in Cordova, TN. She was born August 13, 1911 in Chicago, IL. The Kluck family moved to suburban Western Springs, IL when she was a small child and she grew up there. Dorothy met and subsequently married Henry F. Homann of Hinsdale, IL on September 19, 1936. Their marriage was blessed by three children: H. Robert (Dorothy) of Gold Canyon, AZ, Ralph (Diane) of Hinsdale, IL, and Susan Jones of Memphis, TN. The Homann family lived in Hinsdale and Western Springs, IL and later moved to Memphis, TN when Henry was transferred there by International Harvester Co. Dorothy''s interests included gardening, cooking, crafts, dancing, crossword puzzles, card games, her church, her family and her friends. Her gentle, loving demeanor and positive attitude endeared her to all who came to know her. She lived the Christian tenets of loving God and loving neighbors. She loved to laugh, was kind and caring to all she met, and was a good listener. She was a faithful member and supporter of the churches to which she belonged. A lifelong Lutheran, she was a communicant member of her last beloved congregation - Trinity Lutheran Church in Memphis. Her church friends loved and cared for her throughout the loss of her husband Henry, son-in-law Bobby Jones and her granddaughter Marie Spaniol. Dorothy was preceded in death by her younger brothers, Elmer Kluck and Henry Kluck (Eleanor). She is survived by 5 grandchildren, Gregory Homann of Minneapolis, MN, Kelli Mack (Brad) of Detroit Lakes, MN, Holly Harty (Thomas) of Wheaton, IL, Wendy Smith (Dan) of Glen Ellyn, IL and Diane Johnston (Chris) of Memphis, TN. She is also survived by Tony Spaniol (Jenny) of Munford, TN; 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She will be laid to rest, until the day of resurrection, next to her beloved husband of 63 years Henry in Northridge-Woodhaven Cemetery in Millington, TN. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 15 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 210 Washington Avenue, Memphis, TN 38103.
