DORIS VIRGINIA BRASFIELD LUCAS, 82, passed away January 26, 2010 after a short illness. Born and raised in Lauderdale County, TN, and graduated from Halls High School in 1945, Doris led a full life as a homemaker - raising her children and enjoying her grandchildren, raising a garden, and keeping busy with activities at Embury United Methodist Church. Until Alzheimer''s disease robbed her of the ability to do much, Doris was a giver; if anyone needed a baby-sitter, she was there; if someone was in the hospital, she was there; if someone needed food, she was there; if the church was having an activity, she was there; ALWAYS when there was a family event, she was there. She leaves her husband of 60 years, Herbert R. Lucas; daughter, Brenda Roper and family, husband, Rev. Dr. James D. Roper and their children, Joshua Roper; his wife, Ashley and son, Jackson, Sarah Wells and her husband, Chris Wells and daughter, Madeline, Andrew Roper and Katherine "Katie" Roper; daughter, Karma Dancy and husband, John Dancy; a son, Jeffery Lucas and wife, Dixie, and the family of Joey R. "Randy" Lucas; a son who predeceased her, Tehronda Lucas and children, Ian Lucas and Sheena Pruett and her husband, Jonathon Pruett. She was also preceded in death by her parents, John Edgar Brasfield and Rose Etta Dew Brasfield and all of her brothers and sisters.
