Doris Jean Kerr was born March 17, 1940 in Marianna, Arkansas to the late Nathaniel Brown, Sr. and Jessie Mae Brown.
Doris attended elementary school in Marianna, Arkansas before her family relocated to Memphis in 1952. Memphis is where she met and fell in love with Willie Mathis Kerr and they were married August 1, 1959. They raised four handsome and industrious sons; Bill, Nate, Donald & Harold. Willie & Doris enjoyed fishing, barbecuing, gardening and spending time with their growing family.
Doris was a very loving person who always had a kind word to say and a good deed to do. She was known as a hard worker. She worked in laundries, bakeries, cosmetic factories, meat packing, engine plants, home health care and a little bit of everything else in between. She immensely enjoyed cooking and baking and was well known for her "million dollar" pound cake, lemon pie, banana pudding, chicken wings and yeast rolls.
Doris became one of Jehovah''s Witnesses and was baptized on November 23, 2014. She truly appreciated and enjoyed all of the love, warmth, and hospitality of the Millington Congregation and she returned that same love back to them. She especially enjoyed working out in field service with these dear brothers and sisters and sharing the many good experiences she had with others. Doris was dearly loved by her family, friends, and any who came into contact with her. She was loved by all.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years and a brother, Barry Brown. She leaves to cherish her life: four sons; Willie "Bill" Clay (Clarissa) Kerr of Cordova, TN; Nathaniel (Lucille) Kerr of Florence, SC; Donald Ray (Tonya) Kerr of Cordova, TN; Harold Dewayne (Annese) Kerr of Memphis, TN; two sisters, Peggy Ann Little of Memphis, TN; Rassie Boyce of San Fernando, CA - three brothers, Roy (Diane) Brown of Benton Harbor, MI; Nathaniel "Junior" Brown of Drummonds, TN; Charles Edward (Sheila) Brown of Horn Lake, MS; a very special cousin, Daisy (Roosevelt) Woodfolk of Marianna, AR; 11 grandchildren; and a large host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
