Donna Marie Jennings , lifelong Memphian and loving sister, aunt, and friend, passed away Friday, May 8, 2020 at the age of 66. Donna graduated from Whitehaven High School in 1971 and soon after began her career with the Internal Revenue Service in Memphis where she worked for the next 40 years before retiring in 2012. During her time at the IRS, she was an active member and served on the board of the Memphis chapter of Federally Employeed Women. She also enjoyed serving her community and was a dedicated volunteer throughout the Memphis area. She spent many years as a docent for the Memphis Zoo where she served as docent president. She also served for several years as an active member of Friends of the Orpheum and volunteered at the many WONDERS exhibits that have been on display in Memphis throughout the years. Most recently she could be found donating her time at the Cordova Library. In 1980, Donna began giving to Lifeblood and donated more than 30 gallons of blood throughout her lifetime. When she wasn't volunteering her time, she enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and going out to dinner with her numerous groups of friends. Donna was preceded in death by her father and mother, Richard and Julia Jennings , as well as her brother-in-law, Jerry Swanberry. She leaves behind her sister Linda Swanberry of Oakland, niece Maggie Doty of Collierville, nephew Logan Swanberry (Sachi) of Memphis, great-nephew, Cooper Doty and great-niece, Ellie McCarter, as well as a host of other family and friends. A private graveside service will be held Friday May 15th at 2pm at Forest Hill Cemetery South, 2545 E Holmes Rd, Memphis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Memphis Zoological Society in her honor.
