Obituary

David Eugene Cobb, born in Memphis, Tennessee on September 23, 1952 passed over into the loving arms of Jesus while at the Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto Southaven, Mississippi on March 17, 2026. He was 73.

David graduated from Westside High School in the Class of 1970 and continued his education at Memphis State University graduating with a BSE in Biology in 1975.

In his early years, while attending college he worked at his father’s cabinet shop where he engaged in woodworking. After college he began his career teaching Biology in various high schools over the years. In the early 80’s his employment took an adventurous turn when he worked as a Driller on an oil rig in Texas. After his retirement from the teaching profession, he was employed by Federal Express for several years.

David was preceded in death by his father, Walter Hoyet Cobb of Memphis, Tennessee, his mother, Frances Ozelle Green Cobb of Memphis, Tennessee, and his beloved sister, Cheryl Bevill also of Memphis, Tennessee.

He is survived by his brother Jimmy Hoyet Cobb (Marsha) of Memphis, Tennessee, a nephew Timothy Daniel (Jenny) and their 4 children all of Drummonds, Tennessee. He is also survived by his life partner of 41 years, Dorothy Brady of Lake Cormorant, Mississippi, and 2 furry friends Maggie and Abby.

In his early years David’s life interests included golf, basketball, baseball, handball, racquetball, woodworking, and riding his motorcycle. He also enjoyed different genres of music, bird watching, and working in the lawn at his property at Lake Cormorant, Mississippi.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be directed to the Memphis Humane Society.
