Obituary

Benjamin Warren Donaldson passed peacefully in his home, surrounded by loved ones on Good Friday, April 2, 2021 at eighty-four years of age.

Warren Donaldson was born on the 17th of November, 1936 in Osceola, AR. He was the second son of three born to Benjamin and Martha Donaldson. After his father's sudden and untimely death his mother married his step father, Paul Johnson whom raised him from the age of two. Shortly after the marriage the family relocated to downtown Memphis where he grew up on the bluff of the Mississippi. Warren attended Southside High School in Memphis, TN and went on to serve ten years in the Air Force and Air National Guard. He studied Civil Technology at State Technical Institute of Memphis, Mechanical Technology at William R. Moore School of Technology, and Industrial Technology at Memphis State University. He worked for the Central Illinois Railroad for ten years, volunteered for the Memphis Police Department, was a Construction Inspector for the United States Corp of Engineers for over ten years, Retired from the United States Postal Service, was both a business owner and co-owner, and an Environmental Technician. Warren married his first wife Barbara in 1957, and had two beautiful children together. He later married his second wife Jane and gained four step-sons, the youngest of which he raised as his own.

Warren was know by all as one of the hardest working people; a true jack of all trades, the real Swiss army man. He was a constant joker and would do just about anything to get a laugh. He was a grade-A cat dad to his beloved pets Razz and Jazz, and spoiled them beyond measure. He was a lover of nature and took pride in taking care of his little piece of it. He and his son Michael spent whole summers clearing the property that he would call home for the next twenty plus years. This home is where many memories were made, many geese were fed and hatched, many fish were caught, many four wheeling adventures were had, and so many grands and great grands played.

Warren became a passionate follower of Christ as a born again Christian later on in life by the constant prayers of his loved ones. Today we celebrate his life and accomplishments, the wonderful family he built and left behind, the many cherished memories we'll have forever, the love and smiles he gave to so many, and that right now he is in paradise with Jesus.

Warren is survived by his wife of fifty years, Eleanor Jane; his brother, Tommy Donaldson (Joann) of West Memphis, AR; his son Warren Donaldson Jr. (Angela) of Memphis, TN; his daughter Jeanette Gullett (Harold) of Scottsville, KY; his four step-sons, Ronald Strickland (Debra) of Millington TN; Shawn Strickland (Laura) of Paducah, KY; Terry Strickland (Laura) of Pensacola, FL; Michael Irby (Kim) of Brighton, TN; twenty-one grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

Warren was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Warren Sr.; his mother, Martha; his step father, Paul; his older brother, Melvin; his sister-in-law, Jean; his first wife, Barbara; and his grandson, Samuel.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 10th, 2021 at Journey Church on Shelby Road in Millington TN. at 12 o'clock noon, followed by a burial service at Northridge Cemetery near Millington, TN. Visitation will be held that morning between the hours of 10:30am and 11:45am.
