Annie Mae Harrelson DePoorter, daughter of J.O. and Ida Harrelson, was born March 30, 1949, in Bagdad, Florida. Annie accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifelong practicing Baptist. She attended Milton High School. In 1963, she met the love of her life, Richard Lee, while working at Pete's Malt Shop - located across from her high school. They married June 14, 1965, in Milton, Florida. She and Richard, a Navy servicemember, lived in Charleston, South Carolina, Milton, Florida, and New Port, Rhode Island prior to Richard being transferred to the Naval Air Station in Millington, Tennessee, where they made their home after Richard retired from active duty. Ann, 76, passed away on February 27, 2026, at Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital. She is predeceased by Richard who passed away December 7, 2003. They shared 38 years of marriage together. Ann enjoyed spending time with her family and loving on her great grandchildren. Other hobbies included reading - her favorite authors were John Grisham and Louis L'Amour, traveling, and watching movies, especially the Lifetime channel and westerns, and also going to the theater. She loved shows at the Orpheum, weekly lunches with her girls, and the grand dogs. Ann also loved to craft. She sewed, quilted, embroidered, and created jewelry. Ann will be remembered for her amazing strength and unconditional love. She is survived by her children Carol (Robert) Wardell and Daryl (Martha) DePoorter, grandchildren Colton (Jessy) Dash, Kendal (Hunter) Whitby, Garrett Wilson, Kalyn Buchanan (late Neil), Corey Bell, great grandchildren Wake, Maxton, Skye, Phoenix, Lennox, Brayden, Jaxon, Abigail, and Easton, and sisters Lil, Mary, and Martha.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to West Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 382638, Germantown, TN 38183-2638.
