Alona Young Dixon, was born on February 4, 1943, in Memphis, TN, and passed away on February 23, 2024, in Alexandria, LA. Known for her warm smile and generous heart, Alona was a dedicated military wife, supporting her husband, Bill Dixon, throughout his career. She shared her passion for learning by teaching English classes while stationed overseas, leaving a lasting impact on those she encountered.

An avid outdoorswoman, Alona found solace in tending to her garden with her husband, cultivating vibrant flower beds and maintaining the lawn with care. Her love for animals was unparalleled, and she never hesitated to shower them with affection. Alona possessed a natural gift for connecting with others and brightened the lives of all who crossed her path with her welcoming demeanor.

Her parents, Fred Young and Irma Montgomery Young, and her brother, Freddy Young, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her beloved husband, William B. Dixon; her children Misti Harlow and Samuel Miller and his wife Tamara Miller; grandchildren Cort Harlow, Cole Harlow, Hannah Miller, and Ava Miller. Together, they carry on her legacy of kindness and compassion. A public viewing to celebrate Alona's remarkable life will be held at Hixson Brothers, Pineville on February 25, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Subsequently, a burial service will take place at 10:00 am Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery, Millington, TN, where Dorothy will be laid to rest in the presence of loved ones.


In honor of Alona's memory, let us come together to pay tribute to a woman whose light will continue to shine brightly in our hearts. She touched our lives with her grace and warmth, always radiating joy wherever she went. Alona may be gone, but her spirit lives on in the stories we share and the memories we hold dear. May she rest in eternal peace.
